Meet Jennifer and Garner. Jennifer and I work together as nurses on a busy hospital floor. She stands out as a person with a huge heart and somehow manages to remain calm is some extraordinarily difficult situations at work. She's an amazing, stand out person!

I met Garner the day of the shoot. He too enjoys photography. These two are perfect together and their love just oozes all over the place! It's a big cloud of cuteness that follows them around.

I'm SO EXCITED for these two.

DO WHAT YOU LOVE... is my theme in life right now.

To do something well you have to LIKE it. But doing what you love is complicated. It doesn't mean, do what will make you happiest this second, but what will make you happiest over some longer period; years or a lifetime.

Where am I going with this? Well, nowhere really. I just had some wonderful memory making moments recently with a person I love, admire and believe in...doing what we love (photography and nature). We hopped in the car with cameras in hand and went where the wind took us. Which was small towns, wineries and lots of surprises on the way. Enjoy the scenery.

I love that quote. I'm reminded just about every day the frailty of life. It's the laughter of a child that got me thinking today...so I bid you these thoughts that I came across from about.com/christianity.

Americans are in love with having a modern home, late model cars, lots of clothes, a wide variety of food and as many new electronic gadgets as possible. The desire for more and better things has resulted in a throwaway society where new is better, savings are low and debt is high. There are two problems with the pursuit of things. First, possessions tend to possess the possessor. The more you have the more there is to take care of and worry about. Secondly, things and wealth that are accumulated are left behind when death occurs. Therefore, others benefit from the hard work to accumulate things.

All that to say...I'm looking forward to building a life that leaves a legacy of love, adventure and kindness. Oh how we hit bumps in the road and people that make that difficult...but, it's a life challenge worth taking. One of the reasons I love photography; capturing a moment and a feeling, and it lasting a life time as a remembrance of what matters most.

Be good to yourself, and be good to those that you love. Good night.

Meet the beautiful one week old Hailey.

This was a spur of the moment, grab the camera and shoot kind of day. A quick visit between trying to catch up on sleep, run errands and battling a sinus infection. It was a good reminder of how precious life is, and how much I enjoy being behind the camera. 2011 is going to rock my socks off, I can tell. Welcome to the world Hailey.

I got to the park to let my client know I was there. On the other line, I heard this from her: "Oh, great. The dogs and I are near the tennis courts on the west side of the...is that my dog? Is that my dog in the pond? IS THAT MY DOG?!!? ...click."

Holy sore back and legs! I've obviously not shot a wedding in a while. Whew. I got out of bed and almost hit the floor.

This was a fun wedding. The wedding party was incredibly fun and are a great group of friends. Neat to see everyone come together and be there for each other.

I met a couple at the wedding that has been married for 60 years. "Wow, that's incredible; you must know each other really well then, huh," I said. The wife's response was, "yes we do, and it gets better everyday." Their secret, they said, is humor and chemistry.

Connection

I’m photographing a wedding in June for some very good friends of mine. They’ve been together for-EVER and will for sure stand the test of time. There’s a nice ease to their relationship; they connect well.

Where am I going with this? Well, it’s super nice out, and instead of studying (shame on me) I went shooting around town, looking for things that “connect well” like my good good friends Tracy and Greg. I gave myself a photo assignment so to speak.... “things that go well together” and/or “things that connect” or "things that go together".

I did some brief reading on connection between people. Turns out, strongly connected people have more enjoyment in their life and work. Connection begins with yourself, but is dependent on others. The most important insight that the investigation has provided is that every relationship of connection can be strengthened by investing in ‘connection with yourself’, meaning that you have a clear image of what you want and what you are capable of. Connection with others is characterized by openness, genuine interest and the courage to express criticism.

So, here’s what I came up with for my photo assignment. It’s a bit of a stretch, but it was fun none the less.

Bubbles in the snow don't connect, but it was random and I loved it.

Fresh and beer always go together.

Awe, a man and a women. :)

Bar and Grill, soooo go together.

Coffee goes with anything.

Photography goes with...well, me!

Ha, a KNOT. Get it...tracy and greg are gonna tie the knot. Love it.

I can't wait to put more effort into the photography thing. I miss it. I use to shoot way more, but life and career found itself at a fork in the road and it's now headed down a very different, exciting road. I'm ready to get off the rocky road, and hit some pavement though! I'll get there, we all will. Until then, I'll shoot when I can, and push forward with more pressing goals at the moment. Photography will always be there. My camera and I are buddies; she understands the momentary break in shooting. :)

And, as you all know...I'm a sucker for quotes. Here's a new one I came across. "If you wait to do everything until you are sure it is right, you'll probably not do much of anything."

With that, I say cease the day, cease the moment, follow your heart. You are responsible for your own happiness and success. Muah.

I’m not sure what to call this shoot...it’s an “OMG, I LOVE YOU shoot”? Karen is a good friend and she’s in looooooove, and wanted to do something special for her fiance for Valentine’s. THAT got me thinking about Valentine’s Day and love and well......anywho, I came to Karen’s rescue and did what I could to capture some images for her fiance. I call these "feminine" shoots. Inquire if you're interested.
